How Ford's New Mobility Plans Will Support Corporate Social Responsibility

Rethinking mobility to and from the office is an important component of corporate social responsibility for any business. But besides public transportation, ride-sharing programs, and infrastructure for biking or walking, what can businesses do to address transportation and mobility with their employees?

Ford is hoping to answer that in their own plans for Smart Mobility programs, such as the FordPass program and a leasing program called Ford Credit Link.

The FordPass program addresses mobility plans by allowing users to reserve a car or parking, find or share vehicles for travel, and more. It is also paired with a storefront called FordHubs, where customers can go and ask questions and find resources for better mobility options in their city. Best of all, it doesn’t sell you a car but focuses on your other options for getting around.

Though not build currently for businesses, the leasing program could be great to encourage employees to use it if your business is located in the city. Since many young professionals working in the city want access to a car but don’t see buying one for themselves as an option, the Ford Credit Link might be a better option. The program puts a shared car into the hands of a few friends or family members, expanding the use of the car among multiple people.

An app also allows parties to reserve their drive time, which can help with organizing the car’s use. Lease payments are also split between the members, which makes owning a car even easier for roommates in an apartment, or a group of employees that live in the same neighborhood.

Overall, Ford’s plans to re-envision mobility might not only be a great resource for businesses to implement but also serve to inspire businesses to think about mobility solutions.
