Live Green, Student-Run Initiative, Aims to Bridge Gaps in Campus Sustainability

According to The Michigan Dailya student-led group at the University of Michigan is working to help the campus showcase environmental initiatives. The aim of Live Green UMich is to unite other campus organizations to train individuals across campus to live more sustainable lifestyles. 

Vail Ski Resorts Announce New Sustainability and Environmental Programs

Vail Resorts, Inc., is “setting a leading example” on how to do business in a greener and more environmentally friendly way.

The company has been taking a deep dive into sustainability and environmental issues for well over a decade, but last year announced its biggest goals yet in its Epic Promise Commitment to Zero, which included achieving zero net emissions and zero waste to landfills by 2030. (Forbes)

Along with other initiatives launched by their in-house department Epic Promise, the resort is taking great strides to keep the slopes clean and beautiful.

VW Chattanooga Lands Environmental Award

Mid-November in 2018, Volkswagen Chattanooga received an Environmental Excellence Award. Citing the major great care the company has taken for the local environment, CEO of Chattanooga’s Chamber of Commerce Bradley Jackson stated, “Running a world-class manufacturing facility while also making it a priority to be good stewards of the environment is a model for manufacturing in Tennessee.” 

Green Athletics Conference Encourages Sustainability in Sports

At the annual Green Athletics Conference in Miami on November 7, 2018, students and employees of the University of Miami gathered to hear speakers from around the country who had come both to instruct and inspire future sports professionals on how to promote sustainability within collegiate athletics.

With both students and industry leaders demonstrating a passion for growth and increased efforts, such initiatives as the ones mentioned above will no doubt lead to increased impacts.
