Being mindful of our planet means never wanting to discard something that can be reused. Food waste is something that can and should be reused if possible. What about that leftover coffee that is too bitter to drink? Can it be used as a beauty treatment? Many skin care products contain caffeine, and there are recipes that include coffee grounds (unbrewed) in masks. If you use and like these products, maybe you can save money and have a facial with your morning coffee, aligning with sustainable beauty trends.
Coffee does contain caffeine, but it’s hot, so the first thing you need to do is be safe and let the coffee COOL DOWN. Use a soft cloth and dab it in the COLD coffee and then dabbed it on your face. Your face should feel tightened, and you should feel satisfied that you didn’t have to buy an expensive product from the cosmetic counter. For the coffee grounds themselves, you can incorporate them into making a Gardener’s soap. An easy way to do this is to use premade glycerin bars from a hobby store. Melt and add the grounds, and allow it to re-harden. If you like soap making or want to learn how, try making soap yourself from scratch. For safety, you will need to wear goggles and gloves and be mindful of pets and small children being around. This DIY approach is a perfect example of sustainable beauty trends.
